Overview and Locations

Public Witnessing Overview

Publishers should wait for someone to come to the table or mobile display. When someone approaches, he is invited to take any literature that interests him. The publishers gladly answer from the Scriptures any questions he may have. When possible, they ask: “Would you like someone to visit your home?” or “Are you aware that a free Bible study comes with that publication?” The emphasis for this work is on starting Bible studies. We should maintain a polite and pleasant demeanor, smiling and using eye contact in a friendly manner to encourage interested ones to stop.

Publishers should highlight JW.org whenever possible during the discussions. Smartphones or tablets can be used to highlight the features on our website, so publishers can plan to bring these devices if they own them. Publishers can also share the new video entitled Why Study the Bible? to motivate interested people to accept our offer of a free Bible study. This video may be downloaded in advance so that it may be accessed with ease. We can also point out the QR code on the back of many pieces of our literature and encourage the person to scan it with his mobile device.

Anyone who is not on the approved list of publishers may not engage in the public display witnessing work. Publishers must be exemplary to be considered. Anyone who would like to be considered should speak with their field service overseer. He will notify the elders who will meet to discuss the publisher’s qualifications.

Follow-up Forms

Any addresses left by interested ones should be immediately forwarded to the appropriate congregation to follow up on the interest. (km 7/13)

Public Donations

If a person takes literature, the publishers do not mention the donation arrangement. But if he inquires about how our work is funded, they may explain that donations can be sent to the address listed in the literature.

Additional Public Witnessing Sites

If you have a suggestion for an additional site or area to engage in public witnessing, please refrain from approaching the management or staff of the prospective sites to ask permission. All requests should be handled by the service overseer.
